BEALIBA PONY CLUB HISTORY

The idea of forming a club for people interested in horses & riding began when a local Bealiba resident saw a need for such a club. After several phone calls and inquiries about various types of clubs, it was decided that a pony club should be formed.
An expression of interest was posted in the local shops, and flyers were handed out throughout the local schools & bus runs. In October 1998 five adults stood around an old Holden Ute and a Pony club was formed.

The club took over the unused Bealiba football oval & clubrooms: NatteBealiba football club had previously decided to have their home base at the Natte-Yallock grounds.

Local instructors were bought in to instruct the riders in riding and horsemanship. Eventually, part of the sporting complex was taken over by the club and now the entire area is enjoyed by the club. In keeping with the Pony Club Association of Victoria Guidelines, Bealiba Pony Club was placed on Pending probation to show that they were generally interested in forming a Pony Club.

Once this was proven they were placed on probation which is to enable the club to form a strong foundation and be thoroughly familiar with the aims and objectives of the Pony Club movement. At the July 2000 State PCAV meeting, Bealiba Pony club was granted full affiliation, proving that they could run a club under the guidelines set down by the association.

Today the club has many riding members & adult supporters. The club holds rallies once a month. Throughout the year regular instruction days, camp overs, and clinics are held with top-class instructors. Lessons are offered in Showjumping, Dressage, Cross Country, Games & other activities. Our club holds a gymkhana annually catering for riders of all levels.
The club consists of dedicated parents, grandparents, supporters and junior members, all working together to upgrade facilities eg: horse yards, cross country course, equipment shed, clubrooms canteen, showers, toilets etc.

Bealiba Pony Club is very fortunate to have wonderful families, and a great group of adults & children working together to provide their district with a Youth club that they can be justly proud of.
